Pizza oven canopy
Splashback options
Harry's idea: a flat panel on the wall behind the oven, because the stand cannot sit flush against ribbed cladding. Current preference is to go without.
Where it stands. No splashback is the current preference (John, 12 Oct 2026). Matt charcoal porcelain is the one alternative still open. Brass and a flat Monument sheet are ruled out.
Why it may not be needed. The stand is on castors and the oven needs air behind it, so it was never going to sit hard against the wall. The oven opens at the front, so heat and smoke go forward and up.
If the worry is things dropping down the back, a low stainless lip along the back edge of the bench does that with nothing fixed to the wall. Not drawn, not priced.
If a panel is wanted, it is drawn 1400 wide and 750 high, fixed across the two columns so it stands clear of the 38 ribs. Those sizes are a first guess. No porcelain is made in Monument Matt, so the slab would be picked by holding samples against the wall.
Not priced. Nobody has been asked what a porcelain panel that size costs, who fixes it, or whether it can be fixed to the columns.
John, 12 Oct 2026, on the brass picture
“brass looks like shit and doesn't match at all -- the matte monument is probably going to be the same issues as the current cladding in that is stains”
John, 12 Oct 2026
“lets do one without and one with a matte black porcelain -- or as close as you can get to Monument Matte (which is a different colour than standard monument).”
To confirm or price
- John: final call, none or porcelain.
- Harry: is he happy with no splashback, with the stand sitting about 150 off the wall?
- Kiln 2 manual: how much clear space the oven needs behind it.
